A Pivotal Role in Infection Prevention During the COVID-19 Pandemic

The COVID-19 pandemic has undoubtedly been one of the most challenging periods in recent history, highlighting the importance of effective infection prevention measures. Amidst the chaos and uncertainty, Room To Breathe emerged as a beacon of hope, playing a pivotal role in safeguarding lives, particularly in healthcare, care homes and shared accommodation.

As a leading provider of infection prevention and control (IPC) solutions, Room To Breathe has a history of collaboration with the NHS, NSS, COP26, Scottish Care, Keane Premier Group, among many others. This extensive network of partnerships proved invaluable during the pandemic, enabling Room To Breathe to swiftly deploy its expertise and resources to address the urgent need for enhanced IPC measures.

One of Room To Breathe's most significant contributions was the development and implementation of comprehensive IPC protocols and systems for care home staff and their residents. As a result, care home staff were better equipped to protect themselves and their residents from the virus, protecting them and also giving them peace of mind.

This timely provision of essential products and systems helped to ensure that care homes had the tools they needed to maintain a clean and hygienic environment, thereby reducing the risk of infection transmission.

Room To Breathe offered ongoing support and guidance to care homes throughout the pandemic especially Scottish Care who first introduced us to the team at Little Inch in Erskine with quite extraordinary results. This included providing regular updates on IPC guidelines, conducting virtual audits, and offering expert advice on specific infection control challenges. This proactive approach ensured that care homes remained informed and up-to-date on the latest IPC practices, enabling them to adapt their strategies as the pandemic evolved.

The impact of Room To Breathe's efforts was evident in the significant reduction in COVID-19 cases and, most importantly zero spikes at COP26 with over 30,000 delegates from all over the world. and  deaths among care home residents. By placing IPC at the forefront of its response, Room To Breathe undoubtedly contributed to the overall resilience in every environment during this unprecedented crisis.

As the COVID-19 pandemic transitions into an endemic phase, the importance of IPC remains paramount. Room To Breathe continues to be a trusted partner for healthcare organisations, providing tailored IPC solutions that are adapted to the specific needs of each facility. With its expertise and experience, Room To Breathe is committed to safeguarding lives and preventing future outbreaks, ensuring that the lessons learned from the pandemic are not forgotten.
